Say Hello to Microsoft SharePoint for iPhone

The wait is finally over. Microsoft SharePoint has made its way to mobile iOS and Apple users are the first to make their on-the-go work lives easier with this app.

Reported by a recent article from IT News, the iOS app was released on Tuesday, June 21st with mobile-friendly features that easily transfer current activity within the web enterprise platform to a user’s mobile device. The Android and Windows apps are set to release later this year.

Microsoft SharePoint for iPhone Overview:

This Microsoft productivity software is designed for collaboration, file sharing, document and file management, enterprise search and business intelligence. It is a convenient, secure platform to store, organize, share, and access information.

SharePoint also offers a variety of components, including:

  • SharePoint Online
  • SharePoint Foundation
  • SharePoint Server
  • SharePoint Designer
  • SharePoint Workspace
  • SkyDrive Pro Folder Sync

Moving into the mobile iOS space, users now have access to all of the SharePoint applications, and they can easily view popular features like company bulletins and shared workspaces when they’re away from the office.

The app consists of three tabs: Sites, People, and Links.

The Sites tab provides full access to all SharePoint sites used for work. Users will be able to view each SharePoint site’s recent activity, files, and posts. Lastly, users are able to access content they’ve stored by opening the site’s menu.

The People tab allows users to peek into their coworkers’ work activity. The tab also gives the option to look up users and view their profiles.

The Links tab simply gathers links for whatever important information you need access to, such as a shared calendar.

The app’s tabs are powered by Microsoft’s intelligent Graph technology, which provides users with the most relevant content based on their work activity from their searches. This function makes the app much easier for mobile users.
